Mabizela in the clear, Pienaar in trouble

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mbulelo Mabizela seems to have avoided any action against him by the SA Football Association for snubbing the national team back in September.

Bafana Bafana team manager Sipho Nkumane reckons the matter is now closed. He says the matter can only be resurrected if coach Carlos Santana chooses to select Mabizela in future. This stance is in direct contrast to what Safa has resolved to do in dealing with Steven Pienaar's no-show two weeks ago.

Safa has announced that they will report Pienaar and his club Everton to world football governing body Fifa after the English Premiership club refused to release the midfielder for Bafana's international friendly against Cameroon in Rustenburg.

Everton went public admonishing Safa for " whinging".

"We cannot compare the two cases. We will be taking Everton to Fifa, not the individual player. We believe Everton were uncooperative in their dealings with us, while Sundowns were cooperative. How do we talk about Mabizela when he is not even part of the coach's plans? We consider that chapter over. I also cannot rule out that he may be considered for national duty in future," he said.
