The Investec Purchasing Managers Index plummeted to a low of 39.5 points in November from 46.2 points in October, as confidence in the economy continued to fall. The index fell below 40 for the first time since 1999, reflecting the weakening of the domestic and international economic outlook. Mokgatla Madisha, portfolio manager at Investec Asset Management, said: "The results, while sharply weaker, are in line with similar surveys across both developing and developed economies." - Madoda Milazi
