Land of grace and charm

Swaziland is like a graceful wife whose beauty and charm is not only enjoyed by her husband, but also appreciated and admired by total strangers.

Bejewelled by the bountiful ornaments of nature, the country is further beautified by green pastures and rolling hills.

The warmth and friendliness of the people of the kingdom is felt as soon as you set foot at the border gates.

Swaziland is like another South African province, with South African businesses queueing for attention on the streets of the kingdom's cities and towns.

The two big distinctions about the country are the feeling of safety and the warmth of the beautiful people with an elegant language and willingness to serve everyone, irrespective of colour or creed.

Looking lively in the extremely laid-back country is Ezulwini Valley, which is about 10km from the capital Mbabane.

I spent a wonderful weekend at the glorious Royal Swazi Spa Resort. It has an awesome view of neatly trimmed lawns, creating a divine sense of luxury. The minute you drive into the resort, you're in another world.

You can explore the rich Swazi culture, party until dawn or just laze around.

I highly recommend the resort for all holidaymakers, whether they are couples, families or individuals seeking tranquility away from the main pulse of Mbabane.

The resort has an amazing pool with plenty of sunlight and shaded seating and a cocktail bar offering tropical specialties, classic drinks and an array of other beverages and snacks.

My room had cutting-edge comforts with a spectacular view of an 18-hole championship course. From my room I could see gratified golfers from a distance.

The Swazi flavour sets the tone in every aspect of the resort, from the restaurants to the casino, where you'll find a patron or a worker adorned in beautiful traditional Swazi regalia.

This is a destination truly ready to make a significant effect on tourism.

Situated 28km from Matsapha International Airport, 370km from Joburg and 160km from Mozambique's coastal capital, Maputo, it is easy to reach.

With a luxurious health and beauty spa, an impressive convention centre, rolling valleys and green pastures, this is one of Africa's finest resorts.

The resort's casino is situated at the Royal Swazi Spa Hotel. A children's facility - Kamp Kwena - for children between the ages of 4 and 12 is situated at the Lugogo Sun, a sister hotel, a short distance from the resort.

The health spa at the Royal Swazi Spa is a haven of health and beauty offering an extraordinary range of spa treatments. A hairdressing salon is also available if you want to treat yourself to a new hairdo.

We were taken on a tour of the Kingdom, a trip to a Swazi cultural village, candle factory, market and the botanical gardens.

The candle factory makes the most beautiful candles that I have ever seen.

Later it was time to party with Oliver Mtukudzi at the House-on-Fire. I was surprised at the way black and white people related to each other. There was no sense of superiority or inferiority among the races.
