PCO Young Ones' Trinity Buthelezi was the toast of the day when he won both the Top goal-scorer and the Player of the Tournament's awards at the Safa/Klipspruit stadium at the weekend.
Although his side lost 2-4 to Naledi Youth Academy via penalties in this Putco Under-15 Soccer Challenge, the youngster excelled and piloted his side to the final of this entertaining tournament.
"I'm happy about the awards and wish to thank my team-mates for the support they gave me, and I hope to continue doing well for my team in future," he said.
Youth Academy's captain Thato Ratshikane said they deserved to win the tournament because they worked very hard.
"We trained on sand and also up and down the hill. Our fitness level was high when we got into the tournament and we were determined to win it and we did," said Ratshikane.
The game itself was a marvel to watch with both teams producing great football.
Buthelezi opened the scoring with a blistering shot after a brilliant passing display between his team-mates in the 85th minute.
With fans trickling out of the stadium, believing that the game was over, Youth Academy equalised through Kabelo Rakubu on the stroke of full-time, taking the game into penalty shoot-outs.
Naledi Youth Academy scorers were Mandla Mdluli, Neo Mokgaki, Gift Mokone and Tiisetso Sithoe. And Young Ones scorers were Lebohang Phala and Lerato Radebe.
