A musical extravaganza will explode in the province of the rising sun when Spyro gyra, James Ingram, Angelique Kidjo and Ray Phiri and Stimela take to the stage at the Mpumalanga Arts & Cultural Festival at eMalahleni Stadium, Witbank, on Saturday and Sunday.

Ingram, whose smooth voice and melodic tunes have set many a heart on fire, will rekindle the sparks of love. There is no doubt that the reigning queen of African song Angélique Kidjo, who is into salsa moves, will thrill.

Jazz lovers will cruise on the fine sounds of Spyro Gyra. They will be tantalised by the melancholic brass strands making good music alongside the enticing ebony and ivory keys.

Phiri and Stimela are still the masters of cool. They will take music lovers back in time, eliciting sing-alongs .

Joining these dazzling seasoned musos at MACfest are outfits such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Jimmy Dludlu, Simphiwe Dana, Madala Kunene, Take 6 from the US, Lira, MXO and 340ml from Mozambique.

On both days, gates at eMalahleni Stadium will open 90 minutes before the music begins. There will also be ample secure public parking at the cricket and hockey club, off Lukin Street.

Tickets costing R150 for one day, and R200 for two days, are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers stores.
