Kidz Clinic KZN is taking part in the 16 Days of Activism of No Violence against Women and Children Campaign.

The yearly international initiative voices support for victims of abuse.

This year's campaign begins today and ends on December 10.

The first Women and Men Against Child Abuse Kids Clinic in the province, which is located in Waterloo, outside Verulam, north of Durban, opened its doors to the public in May.

The clinic provides free comprehensive medical services and psycho-social treatment to children who have been sexually, physically and emotionally abused.

Clinic manager Germaine Horowitz said: "Recent statistics of rape and other forms of abuse against women and children that have been noted in our caseloads is disturbing and demands increased, continuous and preventative action."

To encourage men to get involved, the clinic is inviting men living in and around Waterloo to attend forums hosted at the Waterloo Councillor's Community Centre from 9am tomorrow.

Forums in December will also address issues such as the consequences of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, explain the newSexual Offences Act, problems men face and will provide solutions andsupport.
