TV presenter and actor Bongani Zindela says he has learnt his lesson after being nabbed by the police for defaulting on maintenance payments.
Zindela, who plays Mzwakhe in the SABC1 drama series Mzansi and co-presents Shift on the same channel, appeared briefly in the Springs magistrate's court yesterday.
Two weeks ago Zindela was arrested by the Randburg police after a warrant for his arrest was authorised following his failure to appear in court.
Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, the charismatic star said he had turned the corner and was now ready to mend his ways.
"I was not trying to run away from my responsibilities. I admit that I defaulted as it sometimes happens. I'm in discussion with my child's grandmother in order to reach an agreement on the issue," he said.
The talkative presenter joked: "If you are a man just don't run away from your responsibilities because when they (responsibilities) turn and run after you they come with lots of interests.
"No matter how fast you can try to run they will catch up with you."
He said he had always been there for his son and had not neglected him.
The hearing was postponed to November 27.
