One of the most successful cars ever produced by Renault is the Clio.

From the first through to the third generation, which is the latest available version in South Africa, it has always been Renault's best seller.

The second generation Clio, the one featured, is well known for good specification levels and excellent fuel economy.

The Clio has established itself as one of the best buys in its segment on top of being good-looking, functional and practical.

With a mere 30000km on the clock for an almost two-year-old vehicle, the Clio is in pristine condition - from the cared for interior and cloth seats to the paintwork.

The Va Va Voom might have been the entry-level version to make this vehicle available to a bigger market, but it is hard to see or feel the difference between this model and a more luxurious one.

Though this is a small hatchback, there is more than enough space to seat four adults comfortably. The interior of the car is modern and this is also the case with the controls. Everything is within easy reach of the driver and easy to operate.

The contemporary design of the Clio, combined with its practicality, makes this vehicle suitable for the needs of a very diverse market out there.

Fuel economy is one of the best attributes of the Clio. Fuel consumption is a very healthy 5,8litres-100km.

The four-cylinder, 1,2-litre power plant uses a five-speed manual gearbox to deliver power to the front wheels. Power figures stand at 55kW and 110Nm. This might not sound like much, but it is more than enough to travel at 120kph.

It comes with aircon, front loading CD-player, power steering and electric windows.
