Danny Jordaan, the Local Organising Committee chief, has described Bafana Bafana getting seeded for the 2009 Confederations Cup as a major boost for the country.
The draw for the eight-nation tournament also known as the "Festival of Champions", will take place in Sandton on Saturday at 5pm.
Jordaan identified the other seeded countries as reigning champions Brazil, world kings Italy and Spain, who were crowned European titleholders.
He was, however, quick to point out that the seeding was done in such a way that countries from the same continent will not be in the same group.
"It won't happen that two countries from the same continent will be paired together, like Bafana Bafana and Egypt," Jordaan said.
"We also won't have Italy and Spain in the same group.
"It will be a great tournament and we are looking forward to it, hoping that Bafana Bafana will make us proud.
"It will be the first time that we will have Iraq and United States of America together [in the same tournament] and it is important for us as South Africans to support that game."
Jordaan feels one of the secrets of Brazil's success is that they are exposed to international soccer at an early age, citing the example of players like Kaka and Ronaldinho.
"Brazil participate in the World Under-17 Cup, World Youth Championships and Olympics. They already have 60 to 70 caps when they get to the senior team.
"Our junior national teams must start qualifying too, we should also produce quality players to compete against the best in the world," he said.
Earlier at the launch of a Coca-Cola campaign for the World Cup, Jordaan the spectators to reconnect with Bafana Bafana.
