AfriForum is unfair to Watson

AfriForum is really becoming a joke. Now the organisation wants to take Luke Watson to the equality court for saying that he felt like vomiting on the Springbok jersey.

AfriForum is really becoming a joke. Now the organisation wants to take Luke Watson to the equality court for saying that he felt like vomiting on the Springbok jersey.

It is a fact that Watson was treated like an unwanted stepson by South African rugby, which treats anyone who talks about transformation with disdain.

If that's how Watson felt, so be it. We live in a democratic country. I don't believe that AfriForum is a new body.

Strangely enough, we didn't hear anything when former Springbok coach Andre Markgraaf was caught on tape making racist statements. The people who made the tape were discredited while Markgraaf got away with murder. There was also no comment from AfriForum or its predecessor.

Boxing trainer Nick Durandt was also caught on tape making racist comments. Again, black people had to initiate reconciliation. And Durandt's gym is overflowing with black boxers.

People pursuing Watson do not see him as white. Why is he also not given the same opportunity as Durandt and Markgraaf, to attack the originators and not the voice on the tape? I am not saying Watson was right to say what he did, but like the others, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
