Moses Seth Meje is a happy man.
He has fulfilled a lifetime wish that is aligned with philosopher Eileen Caddy who said in the book, The Dawn of Change: "You find true joy and happiness in life when you give and give and go on giving and never count the cost."
Recently, Meje, pictured above, a budding building contractor, returned to his alma mater, Naledi High School in Soweto, to fix its leaking roof and give school uniforms to 10 poor pupils.
He is also among the group of former Naledi pupils who have come together to help the school academically and in sports.
School governing body chairman Phillip Gauta, veteran teacher Kefilwe Motshabi and principal, Kenny Mavathulana were on hand to acknowledge Meje's benevolence and to express their gratitude.
Naledi is a part of the youth development projects of Sowetan's Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation.
Meanwhile, at another Sowetan adopted school, Kgononyane Secondary School in Ganyesa, North West, the provincial education department gave the school a mobile library where the books that our readers and nation-building friends have been giving in the past three years will be kept.
Mavathulana and his Kgononyane counterpart, Mothibi Mosala, have ensured that things have taken a positive turn at their schools and they are hoping for better results at the end of the year.
Among other measures aimed at encouraging good results, particularly in Grade 12, Mosala and his school management team members, Itumeleng Gaebuelwe, Kate Mangena, Mapule Selesanyeng and Thatanyane Rabanyane, have established an intensive study camp, which had been preceded by extra morning, afternoon and weekend lessons.
