The Congress of the People is making overtures to prominent people outside the ANC to join its interim leadership committee ahead of its official launch as a party on December 16.
Phillip Dexter said that Cope has "gone out to make various approaches to people and next Monday afternoon a new interim leadership group will be announced".
Meanwhile, Cope's labour convener, former Cosatu president Willie Madisha, yesterday launched a campaign to defend the SABC.
The public broadcaster has recently come under pressure from several political parties who accuse it of political bias.
Madisha launched the campaign in Limpopo and said he would be travelling from province to province to garner public support.
