Orlando Pirates should make it two in a row over Platinum Stars in the Absa Premiership match at Johannesburg Stadium tonight.

The Sea Robbers beat The Tycoons 4-2 on penalties in the Telkom Charity Cup semifinal in Mmabatho on August 2.

They go into this grudge match - which kicks off at 7.30pm - unbeaten in five matches, three in the Telkom Knockout competition and two in the Premiership.

In the league, Pirates pocketed five points by beating Moroka Swallows 1-0 and got two 1-all draws against Santos and Free State Stars. In their cup games, Bucs eliminated Thanda Royal Zulu 1-0 and Moroka Swallows 3-2 to reach the semifinals.

With coach Rudolf Krol and his technical team seemingly having found a solution to their goal drought, there is still a big challenge for them at the back. Their defence might not be shaky, but they have a tendency to lose concentration late in a game and concede silly goals.

It happened against Ea Lla Koto when Saitjheni Tsotetsi equalised in the last minute after Dikgang Mabalane scored earlier in the game.

Last weekend against Swallows, Thulasizwe Mbuyane and company led 3-0 until the 80th minute, which saw them conceding two soft goals.

Krol looks set to retain goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs though he was blamed for letting in the goals against the Dube Birds last week.

Pirates need a win to boost morale ahead of their trip to Mmabatho on Saturday, where they face arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby.

Stars go into the Pirates clash determined to extend their winning streak to three after scoring seven goals in their past two fixtures.

Their most recent win was a 4-1 hammering of Santos last Thursday. Earlier, The Tycoons walloped Bay United 3-0.

Miguel Gamondi, Stars' coach, is happy his charges have been doing well and believes they can send Pirates crashing to a third league defeat this season.

l In Durban, Lamontville Golden Arrows are out for revenge against Ajax Cape Town after their 3-1 loss in the cup quarterfinal in the Mother City on Sunday night.

Manqoba Mngqithi's charges are under pressure to hold on to their unbeaten Premiership record.

Players to watch in this game include Kagisho Dikgacoi and Richard Henyekane (Arrows), Mkhanyiseli Siwahla and Mabhuti Khenyeza. Kickoff is at 3.30pm at Princess Magogo.
