Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Alliance (KZNTA) will contest next year's poll on their own as a fully fledged political party.
This is after last week's announcement by KZNTA chairman Eugene Hadebe that they had decided to disband and contest the elections under the ANC banner.
The KZNTA first registered with the IEC to contest next year's elections.
Yesterday KZNTA general secretary Bafana Mhlongo said their leadership met on Friday and resolved not to abandon their "election wishes".
He said the registration of the party was "the transport operators'" wish and would not be abandoned.
"We will not disband as a political party," he said.
