Shikota youth want to instil good values

The soon-to-be-launched South African Democratic youth movement yesterday said it would instil good values in the youth of South Africa.

The soon-to-be-launched South African Democratic youth movement yesterday said it would instil good values in the youth of South Africa.

"What makes us different from the ANC Youth League is the manner in which we portray ourselves as young people," said convener Anele Mda

"We seek to instil the realisation in the youth that education is important if leaders are to succeed."

Mda was talking to the media in Johannesburg, where the organisation announced the formation of the South African Democratic Congress' (Sadec) youth wing.

"We have been inundated with enquiries by the youth from all walks of life and of all races in need of a political home," Mda said.

The youth wing will be launched on January 16.

Convening committee member Uzayr Jeenah said as former members of the government, Mosiuoa Lekota and Mbhazima Shilowa could be held responsible for some of the failures "but now they have become part of the solution and are seeking change".
