Widow breaks down in court

The 12 Jeppestown massacre murderers watched in silence as the woman whose husband they killed broke down in the courtroom yesterday.

Inspector Leonie van Heerden is the widow of Frikkie van Heerden, the first policeman who died that day .

"They took away the best thing in my life," she said.

Van Heerden was also shot and as she leaned against a wall bleeding, she said a man came out of the house, looked at her, laughed and ran away.

The trial will continue on November 24 because defence counsel are busy with other cases. - Dudu Busani
