Visa ready to score big

Visa, Fifa's financial services partner, has started with an integrated marketing campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa this week.

Visa, Fifa's financial services partner, has started with an integrated marketing campaign for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa this week.

This was after their World Cup advert, aimed at creating awareness of the quadrennial tournament, was aired for the first time on Monday.

The celebrations of the advert also saw the 2010 World Cup winners' trophy landing on South African shores.

The gold-plated replica winners' trophy will be presented to the winners of the tournament, while the 18-carat gold original will be returned to Fifa House in Switzerland.

Depicting two human figures holding the planet earth, the current trophy was first presented to then West Germany captain Franz Beckenbauer in 1974.

James Clarke, the company's marketing head, said they were using the event to build their brand and showcase their products.
