TAKING STRAIN

Lower income house owners are taking more strain from the current financial crisis than their more affluent counterparts. This was reflected in the October FNB House Price Index which showed a negative growth of 11,7percent year on year in the two-bedroom and less segment of the property market. The three-bedroom segment appeared far more stable, having grown by 9,4percent in the third quarter year on year. The Index showed a further decline in year-on-year inflation rate to 1,1percent from a revised growth rate of 2,2percent in September. - Madoda Milazi
