Former Kaya FM newsreader and journalist Mandisa Dlamini is dead.
Dlamini was found hanging from the bathroom curtain rail at her Weltevreden Park townhouse on Monday night.
"The family suspects that Mandisa might have been murdered because she was found naked," close friend Lungile Masondo told Sowetan.
She said Dlamini looked fine when she last saw her.
"We met briefly on Sunday and we promised to see each other later just to have a girls' talk. But I was shocked to learn that she committed suicide," Masondo said.
She added that she knew Dlamini had some issues in her life but she did not think the problems were serious enough to make her kill herself.
"Mandisa and I were very close friends. We shared secrets and we lived on the same street in Rockville.
"On Friday I heard that her boyfriend Kagiso Nxedlana had moved out of the house after a quarrel. Like any couple they had issues that were not serious."
Masondo added that Dlamini and her boyfriend were very close.
"I did not believe that Kagiso would move out because everything they did, they did it together.
"I also don't think it's unemployment stress since she had just got a job at the SABC.
"She was going to start her new job at the end of November."
Masondo said Dlamini left a voice message on Monday on her boyfriend's phone at 4.50pm.
Dlamini left Kaya FM a few months ago. Her career in radio began with community station Jozi FM where she started out as an intern .
She also co-owned an events management company with Nxedana.
Attempts to get Nxedana's comment proved fruitless yesterday. His cellphone rang non-stop.
Police spokesman Captain Mtila Dikolomela said an inquest docket has been opened.
