Ikapa Sporting, National First Division (NFD) coastal stream log leaders, vowed to stay at the top after reaching the summit with a 2-all draw with Nathi Lions.
Sergio dos Santos, Sporting's coach, said his boys adjusted well after they struggled to put together a winning combination last season.
"We will fight hard to ensure that we cement our stay at the top and further be promoted to the elite league.
"All the boys are hungry for glory, and we cannot allow any club to topple us, including early pace-setters FC Cape Town who we play on Saturday," said Dos Santos.
Meanwhile, Phindani Nene, Durban Stars' chairman, believes the club's technical staff are on the right track after their surprise 2-1 victory over FC Cape Town last weekend.
