Omar Sandys believes he is long overdue a win in one of the tournaments on the Sunshine Tour.

The Welkom-based player gets his chance when he tees off in the MTC Namibia PGA Championship at the Windhoek Country Club from Thursday to Sunday.

Sandys has been playing well this season, coming second in the Suncoast Classic, ninth in the Telkom PGA and 10th in the Vodacom Origins of Golf. He said he has been practising hard for this event.

"Windhoek golf course is my favourite one. I played well at this venue last year, although I didn't win," he said

James Kamte has withdrawn from this event to take part in a tournament in Dubai, so has last year's winner Keith Horne, who will be playing in Singapore.

l The first 80's Business Network Golf Day will be held at the CMR course in Maraisburg on November 13. Tournament organiser Patrick Pheeloane said a number of holes and greens are sponsored and there will be competitions for the longest drive and nearest to the pin.

"We're looking at making this event a success and to stage it at different courses annually," said Pheeloane.

Entry fee is R300, which includes T-shirts, caps and prize-giving dinner. Tee-off is at 11am. For information call 084-563-1024.

l The SGI Foundation Golf Day will be held at the Kempton Park course next month. Green fee is R250 and tee-off is at 10.30am.

For more information call (011) 339-8938.
