Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Two Standerton, Mpumalanga, teenage pupils were arrested for alleged murder and robbery at the weekend.
The teenagers, both 16 years old, allegedly attacked a 23-year-old unidentified man with a screwdriver and stabbed him several times in the back, police said.
Superintendent Abie Khoabane said the incident occurred in Lombard Street at about 6.30pm on Friday.
He said after fatally stabbing the man the two teenagers from the local high school allegedly took his R230 in cash and fled the scene. After being alerted the police managed to arrest the two boys and recover the stolen money and alleged murder weapon.
The boys will appear in the Standerton magistrate's court today on charges of robbery and murder.
In another incident, four people died when the driver of a blue Mazda 323 allegedly skipped a red robot and crashed into a crossing Tata bakkie in Volksrust yesterday morning.
Khoabane said the accident happened at the intersection of Laings Nek and De Kock streets in Volksrust at about 3am yesterday.
After hitting the bakkie the Mazda went out of control and hit a pedestrian near the scene of the accident, killing him instantly.
"All three occupants of the Mazda were killed, while the driver of the bakkie escaped with minor injuries," Khoabane said.
