Anna Ramalebetsa breathed a sigh of relief when she was reunited with her fouryear-old daughter 18 hours after her husband's bakkie was hijacked.

"I imagined her lying dead in an open veld with her throat slit," a visibly shaken Ramalebetsa said yesterday.

Her husband Amos' Fiat bakkie was hijacked on Friday night while Bohlokwa was asleep on the front seat.

"Two cars appeared from nowhere," Ramalebetsa of Palm Ridge, Ekurhuleni, said. "The cars had emergency lights on and we thought they needed help.

"A red VW Golf stopped in front of our car. The other one stopped behind us. Three men ordered us to get out of the car.

"I got out of the car. They must have stepped on Bohlokwa when they got into the car because I heard her scream.

"Amos was ordered to lie on the ground and I ran away."

Bohlokwa was found by and unknown man, crying and wandering about the streets at about 1am.

"She managed to tell the people in the area who she was and where she came from," her mother said. "She also told them where her creche was and who her teacher was.

"I really thought they were going to kill her. I thought I was not going to see my little girl ever again.

"I am afraid of getting into my father's car again." Bohlokwa told Sowetan yesterday. "I am afraid the thugs will come and attack us.".

She will go for counselling at the Natalspruit hospital today.

Police confirmed that they were investigating a case of hijacking.

Ramalebetsa said the people who brought Bohlokwa home had demanded a reward.

The couple has another child Katlego, 10.

This was not the only incident of this kind this week.

Tau Motsei, 20, went missing after his parents' metallic green VW Caravelle was hijacked in Randburg.

Motsei was found at the Kalafong Hospital in Tshwane.
