I am one of those whites that Charles Cilliers refers to in his book, For Whites Only, reviewed in Sowetan on Tuesday.

I took my car in for a service this morning and a client had left his copy of Sowetan behind. Out of curiosity I started reading it for the first time.

It turned out to be a pleasant experience , which was further complimented by a refreshing discussion in the Kombi that took me and two other black customers back to our homes.

Congratulations. It served to open my eyes a little more.
