Mama Angel was a welcome guest when she gave soccer kits to the Westbury Atletico soccer club.

Westbury township is an area with a high unemployment rate.

Many of the children loiter in the streets without anything to do.

Atletico was formed to give the youth something to do and to lessen the influence of gangsterism in the township. There is also widespread alcohol abuse in the area.

The club's PRO, Vanessa Bougard, said: "We want the kids to have a dream. If we succeed, perhaps the club will produce future Bafana Bafana players.

"We have always been strong believers in the saying that 'what you put in is what you get out'."

Atletico promotes physical and emotional growth, teaches social skills, academic success and sportsmanship.

The club was excited to get the kit as they were busy practising for a local tournament.

l Mama Angel then went on a courtesy visit to Johannah Mphelo and David Nqayi's home near Tarlton. The family of 14 lost everything in a fire that destroyed their home.

They are presently housed in a tent loaned to them by the emergency services. The tent will be taken back after 21 days.

The family needs beds and blankets, furniture, pots, crockery and clothes.

Lebo Shai-Dibakwane and Sowetan donated a month's groceries to the family.
