Thousands of matric pupils yesterday started writing their final exams - a milestone in their journey through life.
Once again there will be general anxiety about this year's pass rate.
Generating general anxieties is the feasibility of the Outcomes Based Education curriculum.
Criticism of the curriculum this week by former University of Cape Town vice-chancellor Mamphela Ramphele has not helped to ease the anxiety.
She criticised the system as being the worst in the world and urged the Department of Education to scrap it because it had failed our children.
We hope the authorities will heed her advice, and we urge for the candid review of the curriculum.
