ANC members should be steadfast and strong in the face of prevailing challenges. There is no need for panic, intimidation or disruption of meetings.
Our detractors want us to react in a way that will give them reason to claim we fear democracy. Their strategy seeks to divert us from election work.
They hope we will be so busy focussing on them we will forget we have an election to win. It is painful and irritating to see comrades we trusted as leaders causing such division and strife in our organisation.
But we should welcome the fact that they have revealed their true intentions. It is better for the ANC to have committed, true cadres rather than individuals who aim to undermine our unity and coherence.
History will show that freedom was developed, crafted and upheld by the ANC, that the ANC has always been with the people and that the current NEC is a duly elected leadership that is implementing the Polokwane resolutions.
This is an unprecedented test for the ANC in a democracy. The ANC has always shown that it has the ability to confront and resolve difficult challenges.
We remain the formation that is best placed to pursue our national objectives of a nonracial, nonsexist and united South Africa.
Just as our forbears sang decades ago, let us say in one voice: "I have no hatred nor jealousy for anyone. All I wish to do is to love and build the ANC."
