A 24-year-old man was arrested after a house robbery in Kilner Park, Pretoria.

Five men armed with two firearms broke into a house in the area around 4am yesterday, tied up the occupants and ransacked the place, said Inspector Klaas van der Kooi.

One of the victims managed to untie himself and called the police. When they arrived, a shootout ensued.

One of the robbers was arrested after a police dog attacked him. An unlicensed firearm was found in his possession.

The other alleged robbers fled the scene on foot.

All the stolen property was recovered.

Police believe that the men may be linked to other house robberies in the area.

The arrested man received treatment at a local clinic for minor injuries and will appear in the Pretoria magistrate's court soon. - Sapa
