The Audi A3, darling of the youth, has received a facelift. The new A3 range consists of the ordinary A3, the Sportback and the S3. The A3 range now includes, for the first time in SA, the 1.4 TFSI and the 1.9 TDI engines.
The radiator grille is fitted with chrome-plated, vertical double bars; the bumper with a powerful spoiler lip. Chrome rings border the fog lamps. A platinum gray diffuser and two large, oval exhaust tailpipes sharpen up the rear end.
The new S3 Sportback and the three-door S3 also appear even sharper. The two can be recognised at first glance, thanks to a range of sharp lines - on the roof spoiler and the side sills, for example. The radiator grille is fitted with chrome-plated, vertical double bars, the bumper with a powerful spoiler lip.
Audi fits two different versions of the S tronic system in the A3 and the A3 Sportback. The familiar six-speed version, which is able to cope with high torques, is installed in the 2.0 TFSI and the TDI engines. For the 1.4 TFSI and the 1.8 TFSI engines, a newly developed, particularly lightweight seven-speed assembly, has been implemented.
An expressive exterior design and lines which surge forward - the exterior of the A3 and A3 Sportback have been further streamlined. The new features at the front-end are the most eye-catching.
The single-frame radiator grille has been fitted with a new grille and a redeveloped chrome frame, further emphasising its striking character. The bumper and the air inlets - with integrated fog lamps in the sporty Ambition equipment line - have also been redesigned. Modifications to the engine hood and the fenders cause the front-end to appear more clearly defined and wider.
