Three 17-year-old boys have been arrested for allegedly stoning a man to death for stealing goats at KwaMsane in Mtubatuba, northern Zululand.
The suspects are pupils at Nkosishayingangaphi High School.
Area police spokesman Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the attack took place on Saturday when the boys spotted three men running away with goats stolen from a home in KwaMshaya.
"The boys gave chase but two of the men managed to run away. They caught one man and stoned him to death," Mdletshe said.
Local residents called the police and the boys were arrested. They have been charged with murder and will appear in the KwaMsane magistrate's court soon.
In a separate incident, Mtubatuba police have launched a manhunt for two armed men who shot dead brothers Mxolisi and Lindelani Magwanyana at Nyonini reserve, outside Mtubatuba, on Saturday night. The brothers were allegedly killed while discussing funeral arrangements for a 12-year-old relative.
Meanwhile, Durban police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Inspector Simphiwe Manyoni, who was killed in the line of duty last week.
