The SABC brought glamour and fanfare to the dreary lives of viewers when they descended on the sleepy, laid-back North West under the banner of the broadcaster's Greening North West Roadshow 2008.

Travelling with a host of celebrities, it unleashed stars such as Meshack Mavuso (Isidingo), Twasa (Lesedi FM), Dingaan Mokebe (Muvhango), Sipho Ngwenya (Generations), Dub from SABC2, Chris Matshaba (Motsweding FM), Bonang Matheba (SABC1: Live), Genevieve Howard (Generations), Theo Jantjies (7de Laan), Carl Beukes (Isidingo), Hlengiwe Nkosi (Ses'khona), Kaos Matu (Ses'khona) and Siya Mdlalose (Take 5).

The third leg of the nationwide road show brought entertainment to forgotten towns and farms, and showed the abject poverty our people are still subjected to.

The SABC's vision is to ensure that it plays a critical role in maximising the transformation of our country, enhancing democracy, promoting nation building and reflecting cultural diversity.

The road show is part of the public broadcaster's commitment to its vision of "Broadcasting for Total Citizen Empowerment".

For five days viewers in the various towns had a chance to see their idols up close and interact and mingle with them. They chatted, posed for pictures and went away believing in the magic of television.

Places the road show has already visited include KwaZuluNatal and Eastern Cape.
