Yet another Limpopo taxi owner has been killed in his bedroom.

This is the second man to be shot dead in his bed and the ninth taxi owner killed in Limpopo over the past two months.

Kleinboy Botha Mahlangu is the latest victim of the escalating taxi violence in which owners and drivers are targeted.

The 50-year-old Mahlangu was shot and killed on Friday when unknown men pumped bullets through the window of the bedroom of his home in Saaiplaas, near Hlogotlou.

He was shot in the head and chest and died instantly.

Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said the incident took place at about 8pm.

Ramatseba said Mahlangu had attended a court case in the area earlier in the day.

"Mahlangu was facing charges of attempted murder after an attack on someone in the area," Ramatseba said.

No one has been arrested.

Sowetan last week reported on a number of taxi owners and drivers who have been killed in Limpopo since July.

Among them was Emmanuel Chango Raolane, who was shot and killed in his bedroom a fortnight ago. Two other taxi drivers were also killed in Sekhukhune's Mashamtana village last week.

In a separate incident a 38-year-old man was killed in a shootout with police on the N1 near Pienaarsrivier on Saturday after he and his accomplices had hijacked a truck, said Ramatseba.

The other suspects escaped.
