It is hardly an exaggeration that the mere thought of South Africa's hazardous roads invariably conjures up the image of taxi operators.
Every motorist's common villain, taxi operators are definitely not known for their courtesy and patience with slow-coach traffic on the road.
Most reinforce this stereotype unfailingly, while the more courteous among them tend to be far and few between.
So it was heart-warming to learn that there were some taxi drivers - like Motlhaosile Mosala, who won the National Taxi Driver of the Year contest this week - who really take their jobs seriously and want to contribute to the campaign to keep our roads safe.
Sorely needed is for his fellow drivers to follow his good example.
