South African fans of American R&B singer Puff Johnson, left, can look forward to her performance this weekend.

Johnson will be performing at the Divas Sing a Song to OR Tambo at the Boksburg Stadium in Ekurhuleni on Sunday.

Tambo, right, one of Mzansi's greatest leaders and icons, would have turned 91 years old on October 27.

So in the great man's memory his legacy will be celebrated in dance and song by women in music.

Born Ewanya Johnson, the singer emerged on the music scene with the popular singles Forever More and Over and Over, which was the soundtrack of the film The First Wives Club. It was a hit in Europe and Australia and made it to the Top 20 on both continents.

Johnson released her first and critically acclaimed album, Miracle, in 1996. She also collaborated with Tupac Shakur on his first Deathrow Records release, All Eyez on Me, his hit single and Me Against the World, which featured in the Bad Boys movie soundtrack and his album of the same name.

In 1997 Johnson toured Europe as an opening act for Michael Jackson and 3T.

Her debut album was certified silver in the UK. Towards the end of that year, Miracle reached the Top 40 in the Netherlands and her single, Over and Over hit the Top 20.

Johnson is listed as co-writer of three tracks on the 2005 album A Change Is Gonna Come by Leela James.
