Inspector Joseph Manyonyoba Mtolo was a humble and generous man who was always there to help those in need.
Mtolo had a long service record in the police service, which he joined in 1973.
Born on September 2 1948 at Kwa-Makhoba Afzondaring in Matatiele, Mtolo started his primary education at St Mathews and proceeded with his high school education at Chesterville Mazenet in KwaZulu-Natal.
He then moved to Johannesburg where he joined the police force and was assigned to the narcotics division. Mtolo also served at the Ramatlabama, Skilpadshek and Botswana border posts, controlling the influx of narcotics into South Africa.
He was transferred to the Roodepoort dog unit, before joining the Soweto dog unit where he was promoted to branch commander, until he retired in 2000.
After his retirement he went into business in the taxi industry until his death on October 10.
A hard-working man of integrity, Mtolo was also a good father who loved his family.
He will be buried on Sunday at the Roodepoort Cemetery. The service will be held at 122 Diepkloof Extension from 9am.
