Johannesburg's favourite culinary extravaganza, the Good Food and Wine Show, promises to be a mouthwatering affair, with new ideas, new celebrity chefs and plenty of fun for the family.
The show will be on at the bigger, better, air-conditioned Coca-Cola Dome, Northgate, from October 30 until November 2.
This year there will be more than 300 exhibitors showcasing the latest in food and kitchen trends.
The expo will have no fewer than nine state-of-the-art kitchen theatres and food enthusiasts will be able to experience everything from the global ice cream and gelato revolution to the national barista championships.
A group of top chefs from Europe and the US will descend on Johannesburg for the first time. They include Aussie heart-throb and TV personality Curtis Stone, now working in the US, British-born Caribbean food maestro Patrick Williams, Irish cooking queen Rachel Allen, Thai food expert David Thompson and the Tanner Brothers, Chris and James.
Also returning to South Africa are Brian Turner and Andrew Nutter, who were a great success at last year's show. They will be hosted by The Palazzo of Montecasino, which also prides itself in a Michelin-rated executive chef, Philip Alcock. He is an award-winning chef who has worked in some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world, and promises to be a star attraction at the Chefs in Action Theatre.
The new features at the show will include the Outdoor Living Theatre, where outdoor living at its most luxurious will be exhibited. Here international chefs will offer tips on braaing and other easy-to-make food. Displays will include the best in furniture and crockery.
At the Ice Cream and Gelato Theatre, the BBC's Tanner Brothers will demonstrate how to make different ice cream, from savoury ice cream to sorbet with a punch.
The Traditional Tastes Pavilion will offer visitors the opportunity to experience local cuisine with a global twist as well as local beer and wines.
At the Mediterranean Kitchen various dishes from Greece, Italy and Portugal will be showcased.
Tickets are R65 for adults and R35 for children under the age of 12 and pensioners. Tickets can be purchased at the door but are also available online at www.gourmetsa.com.
