Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
Office equipment worth about R1 million was impounded in Berea, Johannesburg, yesterday and two Zimbabwean men, aged 32 and 42, were arrested.
Gauteng police spokesman Captain Bhekizizwe Mavundla said police acted on intelligence information and raided the Helderberg flats in Berea.
The equipment was found in one of the flats searched. The two men occupying the flat were arrested.
Hard drives, 60 computer monitors and a hacksaw were recovered. Police believed all the equipment may have been stolen in a single "mission".
The two men will appear in the Johannesburg magistrate's court within 48 hours and will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property. - Sapa
