The Limpopo department of local government and housing will spend R3,6billion in the next three years to build houses and better the lives of people in the province.
The department will use the municipal infrastructure grant to improve services in the province's urban and rural communities.
It will build roads, community halls, parks and renovate stadiums.
The department will also spent more than R1billion on the electrification of houses in the province's far-flung areas.
The province has completed the electrification of 82percent of households in Mopani, Capricorn, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and the Waterberg.
The department aims to bring electricity to the remaining 18percent of the population within the next three years.
The department will also spent over R600million on municipal support, township establishment and site demarcations.
"Towns such as Jane Furse, Hoedspruit and Mokwakwaila will be developed," Clayson Monyela, director of communications in the province's department of local government and housing, said yesterday.
Monyela said his department had provided piped water to about 72,8percent of the population in the province since 1994.
