Danny Jordaan, chief executive of the World Cup 2010 Local Organising Committee, is in Europe on a mission to create awareness of next year's Confederations Cup.

"The Confederations Cup is coming to South Africa, we have decided to go global in marketing it," said Tim Modise, the LOC's communications director.

"The South African embassy in Berlin [Germany] has organised an event to help us promote the Confederations Cup and World Cup. Dr Jordaan has been invited by the embassy to interact with the German and international media based in that country."

Jordaan is expected to fly from Germany this morning to Brussels where Belgium entertain reigning Euro Cup champions Spain in a 2010 World Cup qualifier.

"Dr Jordaan is scheduled to meet the Spanish team, who are also busy with the preparations for the Confederations Cup," added Modise. "Representatives of the LOC will also be meeting the football associations of the other countries who have qualified for the Confederations Cup."
