Improving community

Bojanala Platinum District Municipality has embarked on a 2010 World Cup project to ensure that their communities also benefit from the event.

Bojanala Platinum District Municipality has embarked on a 2010 World Cup project to ensure that their communities also benefit from the event.

"The main one for us is the development of soccer for both boys and girls," said Innocent Sirovha, the municipality's manager for sports and culture. "We are working closely with the South African Football Association (Bojanala region) as the custodian of the sport in the country.

"There is a dire need for proper development structures, especially in view of the fact that our junior national teams have not been qualifying for global competitions.

"As part of our soccer development project, we have introduced the 2010 Awareness Mayoral Cup, which will also help to promote the tournament."

Sirovha, who is also the South African Schools Football Association deputy president, said they appreciated the support from Royal Bafokeng Sports Holdings.
