Fine-tuned actress Mampho Molete-Brescia has landed a leading role in a new South African feature film Swop.

The film is directed by one of the country's TV success stories, Hlomla Dandala, who is currently playing the role of a church minister in the SABC1 show Tsha Tsha.

Molete-Brescia, who has made a name for herself in Egolihood by taking on lead roles in SABC3's Isidingo (Batsi), MNet's Jacob's Cross and acted Mbali in Generations, among other high-profile TV productions, this time plays the character of Tina.

"Tina is an obnoxious young lady trying to climb the social ladder by dating a successful man.

"I love the experience of acting in this film. This is something I have not done before and I had to think hard before about how Tina would fit in into the kind of life that she wants. Although the film is scripted, the producers allowed us to come in with input in terms of creativity," she said yesterday.

She also added that working with Dandala as director was a good experience. "I have worked with him in Jacob's Cross .

"But in Jacob's Cross he was an actor and not a director."

The film will be released in South Africa next month.
