Afro-pop group Jaziel Brothers could make a clean sweep after getting four nominations for this year's Metro FM Music Awards.

After being denied the best Afro-pop group award at the South African Music Awards early this year, the group is expected to win this time.

The two brothers have been operating behind the scenes as vocalists and producers for a while, but are now in the limelight with their debut album, The Beginning.

Jaziel Brothers is nominated in the best newcomer group, best produced album, best Afro-pop and best group categories.

Newcomers in the music industry Rhythmic Elements, a kwaito group from Pretoria, also got four nominations. The group, whose single 2 by 2 is currently enjoying a lot of airplay, has surprised a lot of people.

The Metro awards will take place in Pretoria on November 29. This year three new categories have been added, bringing the total to 18.

The independent judging panel is already selecting five nominees from a list of artists supplied by the various recording companies.

Members of the public have until October 22 to vote for their top three finalists by SMS. Once the top trio has been identified, the race is on for supremacy.
