Mbeki has achieved a lot internationally during his term as president. Is this how he is thanked?

I believe the timing was not right, considering that there were only a few months left before national elections.

ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said the decision was taken to unify and heal the organisation.

How can you unify an organisation by axing a loyal member of Mbeki's stature and integrity in such a humiliating manner?

In addition, how can you release a person of Mbeki's integrity and calibre from his position based on the opinions of a judge and not on facts?

The sacking of Mbeki is the saddest moment I ever experienced in my life.

I don't have any hard feelings towards ANC president Jacob Zuma or his executive whatsoever, but if this is how things will be done in future I foresee danger in the party.

As for those who say Mbeki should have listened in the past, there is nothing Mbeki should have listened to.

To you Mbeki, we stand with you even during this dark moment of your life because you have been the pillar of our national strength as you led by example.
