The ANC Youth League in Limpopo has contradicted both the national and provincial executive committees of the ANC by calling for Premier Sello Moloto to resign.
The youth league yesterday vowed to install provincial chairman of the ANC, Cassel Mathale, as the new premier.
The league's provincial chairman, Lehlogonolo Masoga, said the decision to remove Moloto was taken during the league's caucus yesterday.
Masoga, who described Moloto as "problematic, an embarrassment and a source of pain to the ANC", said the call came after the premier allegedly fabricated lies to the NEC that the provincial leadership of the ANC had stopped procurement in clinics and hospitals, thereby threatening the lives of the people of Limpopo.
Other reasons cited by the youth league were that Moloto was "unwilling" to implement the decision of the provincial executive committee that Mathale be appointed to the provincial cabinet.
The league said on September 7 the PEC decided to deploy Mathale to the cabinet in line with the resolutions of the provincial conference.
"Regrettably, a month later, such a decision has not been implemented."
Moloto is currently in China.
But both the NEC and PEC remained firm that Moloto must serve his term to the end.
Moloto and some PEC members were summoned to Luthuli House where it was made clear that the premier should serve out his term.
The ANC in the province reiterated the call and confirmed that Moloto would remain in office.
