The Seshego magistrate's court was packed to capacity yesterday with curious people wanting to get a glimpse of the man described as Limpopo's most wanted fugitive.

Reuben Moloto, who was arrested in Tshwane on Sunday night in what police described as a major breakthrough, was charged with burglary, unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and intimidation.

Scores of people who had come to the court to attend the proceedings confirmed that they had known about Moloto and his alleged criminal activities for some time. But they had not known how he looked like.

The heavily-scarred Moloto, who was handcuffed and chained, stood motionless before magistrate KS Makgato.

His case was postponed to October 22 for a bail application.

Moloto's accomplices, apparently eight of them, will be called to appear at the next hearing.

Some of them are out on bail, while others allegedly could not afford the bail money.

According to Seshego police spokesman Sergeant Mothemane Malefo, Moloto, 39, is facing charges of armed robbery for an incident at the Cashbuild Hardware in Seshego in July, where a large amount of money was stolen.

Moloto is also facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He allegedly burgled a security company's premises in Polokwane and stole several firearms earlier this year.

His intimidation charge relates to threats he allegedly made to investigators and detectives, saying he would blow their heads off .

Moloto has previously been charged with armed robbery.
