The hearing against two suspects arrested for raping a 14-year-old virgin at the recent reed dance was postponed to tomorrow.

The men were arrested in hospital where they had gone for consultation after they were beaten up by a group of people who had accused them of robbing them on the night of the reed dance at King Goodwill Zwelithini's Nyokeni Palace in Nongoma.

Before the assault, it is alleged that the suspects approached the girl, dragged her into nearby bushes and gang-raped her.

The girl reported the matter to the police, who took her to Nongoma's Benedictine Hospital for examination, where she pointed out the two suspects who had been assaulted by the community.

They were arrested on the spot.

Police spokesman Captain Vusi Mbatha said the suspects would appear in court again tomorrow.
