The sleepy town of Bethal will be a hive of activity this weekend when it hosts the annual Tjhagalani Kusephuka Tidzindzi Arts and Culture Festival.

The provincial department of culture, sport and recreation has organised non-stop entertainment and exhibitions for fun lovers.

Music, food and art will be served in large portions during the two-day festival.

Proceedings will start with a parade in the town centre on Saturday.

Tjhagalani was first held in 1999 and has grown in leaps and bounds over the past nine years.

It has served as a platform for emerging artists to promote and exhibit their work to larger audiences.

Department spokesman Sammy Mpatlanyane says 30 groups of various musical genres will entertain the crowd during the festival.

"Music executives from various recording companies have been invited to scout for new talent," Mpatlanyane said.

Traditional cuisine will also be served.
