Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela resurfaced at Mamelodi Sundowns yesterday morning and immediately worked out in the gym.

Mabizela also attended the gym in the afternoon and Mahlatse Mphahlele, Downs' publicist, told Sowetan yesterday they were in seventh heaven that the controversial defender was finally back at Chloorkop. Mphahlele said Mabizela was expected to meet the club management some time this week where a date for a disciplinary hearing would be decided.

"He met the technical staff on his arrival and what was discussed in that meeting was private," Mphahlele said.

"We hope this matter will be resolved in the best interest of the two parties."

In the meantime, Sundowns' executive technical director Ted Dumitru said suggestions that he was close to Mabizela implied that he supported the behaviour of the troublemaker.

"I find it very strange that people are starting to associate me with Mabizela. Why don't they say 'Ted is close to all the players at Sundowns'?

"I don't know what the motive is behind this. These people choose to forget that I found Mabizela in the team when I joined them in the off-season. I was not part of the people who recommended him to Sundowns," Dumitru said.

Sundowns were last night fined R100 000, R60 000 suspended for 12 months, for snubbing the media during the MTN8 final.
