Barely a week after the ANC provincial executive committee lifted her suspension because it had been unprocedural, eMalahleni mayor, who is also the ANC deputy secretary in eNkangala, has been suspended again.

Lina Malatji has received a letter from the regional executive committee stating that a notice of "recusal from her office" had been taken against her.

This comes on the back of the suspension letter she received two weeks ago after she allegedly failed to exhaust ANC internal procedures when she took the party to court.

The PEC lifted Malatji's earlier suspension by the regional leadership.

Malatji had suspended her municipal manager, Ananias Langa, for failing to reverse the "erroneous appointment" of Afri-Anfra, which she viewed as an irregular tender.

A week later the REC reinstated Langa and summoned Malatji to a disciplinary hearing.

She took the matter to court, alleging unfair labour practice and the REC suspended her. But the PEC ordered that her suspension be lifted since procedure was not followed.

But the eNkangala REC rescinded the decision to reinstate Malatji, saying it did not reflect their views.
