Tutu must accept change

Archbishop Desmond Tutu's "I won't vote" utterances in the Sunday Times on Sunday contain an element of the state of the nation address which, had he made it during the Thabo Mbeki administration, would have had the world lauding him as an objective and God-fearing cleric.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu's "I won't vote" utterances in the Sunday Times on Sunday contain an element of the state of the nation address which, had he made it during the Thabo Mbeki administration, would have had the world lauding him as an objective and God-fearing cleric.

But that it comes so late is indicative of how subjective and biased the clergyman is.

I suspect his intention is to convince people not to vote in next year's general elections. The archbishop will be extremely disappointed when we come out in numbers to vote for the ANC.

The last time I heard the archbishop's credible voice was during the TRC hearings.

If new Health Minister Barbara Hogan's emotional voice, when she addressed what Tutu had been blind to all these past months, is anything to go by it shows the good hands the nation and indeed the government is in.

We are not looking back, archbishop, but moving right ahead to our second freedom - in the hands of a credible Afro-centric leadership.

The age of Euro-centrism is definitely over and done with and I advise Archbishop Tutu to accept this fact.
